How to Fish Game Island 3 walkthrough
Island 3 is the desert chapter of the How to Fish game, not the end of the campaign. Its route combines the grill unlock, the Tourist's endangered-creature request, a Carrot reward, and the two-phase Pufferfish fight.
Complete the steps below to earn the Carrot, defeat the boss, and open the route to Island 4.
1. Unlock the Grill and Find the Tourist
Island 3 introduces the grill as part of its early objective chain. Finish the local request that opens the cooking station, then find the Tourist and listen for his request for an endangered creature.
- Do the cooking unlock first: Later catches are worth more after grilling, so this changes the economy for the rest of the run.
- Speak to the Tourist: The Carrot is his quest reward; it is not a shop item or ground pickup.
- Prepare your loadout: The Weapons Guide covers practical options before the boss fight.
2. Bring the Tourist an Endangered Creature
The objective is a category, not an item literally named “Endangered Ancient Fish.” Current walkthroughs commonly complete it with a qualifying Needlefish, Bowl Fish, or Seahorse. Check the catch before selling it and keep any candidate aside for the Tourist.
- Fish the waters around Island 3 and inspect promising catches.
- Use a better rod if stronger catches keep breaking the line; see Rod Upgrades for the progression order.
- Keep a qualifying creature in hand or in a clearly separated place.
- Do not cook, sell, or gamble it. The Tourist needs the original catch.
3. Exchange the Catch for a Carrot
Give the qualifying creature to the Tourist. He rewards the crew with a Carrot, often described as Carrot Bait in player searches because it is equipped on the rod.
This is a progression item. Save it until the crew is ready to start the Pufferfish encounter.
4. Fight the Rolling Pufferfish
Reload, choose clear firing positions, and move loose quest items away before using the Carrot:
- Summon: Attach the Carrot and cast. The Pufferfish appears immediately, so everyone should already be in position.
- Read the roll: Once inflated, the boss crosses both land and water as a spiked sphere that can crush players and the boat.
- Watch phase two: At roughly half health, the Pufferfish starts leaving a purple poison trail. Keep moving and do not cut across the trail while repositioning.
- Use solid cover: Put terrain or structures between the crew and the rolling path, then fire when the boss is exposed.
5. Escort the Tail Trophy
The defeated boss leaves a progression item: the Pufferfish Tail. Identify it before anyone moves the remaining drops toward the sell point.
Seagulls target the Pufferfish Tail as soon as it lands. Choose one runner to take it straight to the NPC while every other player watches the sky and clears incoming birds.
Delivering the Pufferfish Tail to the Tourist completes the desert-island objective and reveals the coordinates for Island 4. The story continues through the Terrorizing Bird and the volcano finale.
