Carrot bait in the How to Fish Game
Why the Carrot Matters
In the How to Fish game, the Carrot is the Island 3 quest lure for the Pufferfish. Players often search for “Carrot Bait,” but the route is an NPC exchange: complete the Tourist's endangered-creature request, receive the Carrot, and equip it on the rod.
Complete the Tourist's Request
Use this natural story order instead of looking for an item named “Endangered Ancient Fish”:
- Speak to the Tourist on Island 3 and accept his endangered-creature request.
- Fish around the island for a qualifying catch. Current guides commonly use Needlefish, Bowl Fish, or Seahorse.
- Do not cook or sell the catch. Carry it straight back to the Tourist.
- Complete the hand-in to receive the Carrot.
What the Carrot Attracts
The Carrot has one progression-critical job: summoning the Pufferfish. Treat it as a quest item rather than an ordinary money-making lure.
Using It to Start the Pufferfish Fight
Reload and choose safe firing positions before casting. Once the Carrot reaches the water, the Pufferfish appears immediately. At about half health it adds a purple poison trail, so keep space open for the second phase.
FAQ
Can I buy Carrot Bait with money?
No. Complete the Tourist's endangered-creature request on Island 3. A qualifying catch earns the Carrot used to summon the Pufferfish.
Which catches can complete the Tourist's request?
Current walkthroughs commonly use Needlefish, Bowl Fish, or Seahorse. Keep a qualifying creature away from the grill and sell station, then hand it directly to the Tourist.
