First-Hour Priorities
The opening route is a catch-kill-sell loop that leads into the Lighthouse Keeper's beer quest. Learn the basic controls, buy a reliable melee weapon, and finish the Spider Crab hand-in before worrying about later islands.
🎣 Cast, Reel, and Finish the Catch
The default mouse-and-keyboard loop is simple, but line tension and physics decide whether the catch reaches shore:
- Hold the left mouse button to charge a cast, then release toward the water.
- When a creature bites, hold the left mouse button to reel and ease off when line tension climbs too far.
- Kill the landed creature with your hands, a melee weapon, or a gun before trying to sell or use it.
- Use E for nearby interactions and F to inspect values such as price, weight, cooking multiplier, and killscore.
💰 Build the First Loadout
Sell ordinary catches until you can afford the items required for the opening quest. Do not spend the first bankroll on roulette or cosmetics.
- Buy the Lighthouse Keeper a Beer; he returns the empty can needed as boss bait.
- Bring a Knife or another dependable early weapon before using the can.
- Keep some healing on hand and avoid summoning the Spider Crab with an empty inventory plan.
🦀 Complete “Who stole my beer”
The Lighthouse Keeper's quest is the first full progression chain:
- Give the Beer to the Keeper and equip the returned Empty Beer Can as bait.
- Cast from the starting area to hook the Spider Crab.
- Sidestep its charge, attack from behind during the stun window, and watch the encounter timer.
- Return the named crab drop to the Keeper to receive the Boat Keys; check the Radar before sailing.
🔥 Treat Cooking as a Later Upgrade
The grill belongs to the Island 3 route, not the starting island. After it is unlocked, cooking improves sale value and creates useful healing items.
- Inspect the item while it cooks and remove it around the 1.5x cooking multiplier.
- Leaving it on the heat too long burns the item and destroys its normal sale value.
- Eating one burnt creature unlocks "Yummy in my tummy"; it is an achievement step, not an economy strategy.
